Over 20 Years of Experience In Loft Conversions:

Your attic can be converted into a much-needed extra bedroom, office, spare room, or guest room by The Loft Conversion Company (Portsmouth) Ltd. Moving or building an addition can be more expensive than converting the attic.

It maximises the usage of unused space while also increasing the value of your home. Since we first started planning and building them over 20 years ago, this sort of expansion has remained very popular. Perhaps even more so than in the past, especially in densely populated places where other options for that much-needed bedroom are scarce.

According to a recent survey by mortgage company Abbey, at least half of homeowners find the cost of moving unaffordable and opt to stay put. Converting existing space is a cost-effective solution to get much-needed extra space.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the cost of the work may be less than the increase in value of your home as a result of the conversion. According to Abbey, this was a very cost-effective decision.

Keep in mind that your attic is a blank canvas. Giving you the opportunity to design a room that meets your needs. If well-planned and performed, it will be a beautiful addition to your home.

If you get the finish just perfect, it will appeal to potential purchasers, raising the price and enhancing the saleability. Adding an extra bedroom to a property can increase its market value by £30,000 on average!

Many people ask us to conduct feasibility studies for loft conversions. Our organisation places a high priority on providing the best possible advice during the initial free feasibility survey. So, whether you're thinking about doing a loft conversion or just want some good, sound advice, don't hesitate to call us.

Architectural & Structural Calculations

We provide consulting services for all types of loft conversions that require local government planning and building regulation approvals. As the law becomes more sophisticated, experience and skill in these domains are becoming increasingly vital in ensuring a successful application.

We will design, compile architectural drawings and structural calculations, and submit them for approval to your local government. We can submit plans with complete assurance that all approvals will be obtained due to our loft conversion experience and knowledge.

We also take care of filling out all of the necessary application paperwork, such as the Party Wall Agreement. We can perform a Party Wall Inspection as a less expensive alternative to a Party Wall Survey.

Relax and enjoy your loft conversion, knowing that it will be built with the utmost care and to the greatest possible standard.

Bathroom And Shower Suites

No matter how big or little, every bath or shower suite should be a wonderful use of space. We can construct a magnificent en-suite bath/shower room to complement your loft conversion with a sensible design, even in the tiniest of areas.

Use space-saving units that operate in harmony to build restrooms that allow you to walk around freely, regardless of their size. We have over 20 years of expertise designing and building bath and shower rooms, so you can be confident that your en-suite bathroom will be beautiful.

Hip Roof To Gable Wall Construction

A hip roof has a square side wall that ends at eaves height and slopes on all sides. A roof with a gable wall will slope on two sides, with a triangle-shaped side wall that ends at ridge height.

Loft conversion with an existing gable wall will take less time than one with a hipped roof. This will have an impact on the loft conversion final cost. To reflect the existing character of the land, there are three basic construction methods to choose from.

Staircases

It's critical to plan a functional and safe stairway for your loft conversion. Building regulations must be followed in the letter. The location of the staircase has a significant impact on the new top floor design. A small Velux window put above the stairwell will allow natural light to permeate the new stairwell and landing. We can create a new stairwell to match your existing stairwell.

All loft conversion stairs must be custom-built to fit the new stairwell opening width and height. Allowing for appropriate headroom must be carefully considered. All steps must be measured in the same way and have a maximum pitch of 42 degrees. Handrails must be at least 90cm tall, and spindles must be at least 30 cm long. It's also necessary to space them 10cm apart. These are just a few of the fundamental Building Regulations requirements.
